KeyBank

Senior Frontend Software Engineer

2022 – Present

I joined a brand-new team formed to stand up an internal application for KeyBank bankers: a tool that lets a banker open a small-business account for a client who walks into the branch in about ten minutes, down from the hour or more it used to take. It's built in Angular and TypeScript, and it grew from an empty repository into a platform now used by 1,500+ bankers nationwide.

I wrote the first commit on the project. I set up the formatting and linting rules, laid out the initial structure, and built the services that talk to the backend and feed data into the form-based application bankers fill out for each client.

Over time I grew into a lead role. I had a heavy hand in the product roadmap and became the bridge between engineering and our product owner, translating what was technically possible and how feasible it was against our release timeline. I also reviewed the work of our three+ frontend engineers.

After three years building that platform, I was chosen to off-ramp and join a new greenfield team building the first AI capabilities at the bank. We build AI agents for internal KeyBank employees to help with their day-to-day work, and we're now expanding that into a platform for everything AI at the bank. It's the most exciting work I've done here, and I'm learning a lot.
